The following is a list of common questions and issues when ordering our products. Feel free to contact us if your question or concern is not covered here:
We used to attach tiles together before shipping but found that it became very difficult to do with large puzzles and that many people like to space the tiles out when hanging them. We now provide the tiles individually so you may hang them any way you wish.
See the section "How to hang tiles" for more information on displaying your puzzle.
Each order (especially scrabble tiles) is custom made by size, color and font and can take from 1-3 weeks to build prior to shipping. Larger orders can take longer to obtain matching materials. Please be patient. Feel free to contact us for order status.
Each tile is made of lightweight wood and is easily hung by using double-backed tape or pieces of Command Strips. No holes should be drilled into the tiles and no damage to walls (not counting adhesive).
To mount the tile, simply use a piece of tape at approximately the top-center of the back of the tile and apply to the wall as necessary. We suggest you use a light pencil line to maintain alignment. Many people like spacing the tiles slightly. Find something handy that you can use to provide consistent spacing and use as necessary to help place your tiles accordingly.
Fairly regularly a customer will contact us complaining that they are missing tiles. Usually this is due to their receiving the tiles and then immediately laying out the tiles one name at a time and discovering there are insufficient letters to do this.

Let's take the following names as example:
SHARON
BLAKE
TROY
JULIE
That is a total of twenty letters. However, when placed in a puzzle (see image) you will note that three of the twenty letters are being shared among the four names (A,O,E).
Yes, we do, occasionally, mistakenly miss-ship an order and a letter is misplaced, and we are happy to send the missing letter(s) to fill the order. Please lay out your order in the design agreed upon before making this request and inform us of the letters missing after you have confirmed the puzzle cannot be constructed properly.
We have many customers that come back to add letters to their puzzle when there is a new family member (birth, wedding, pet). Sometimes this can be a bit tricky.
Not all puzzles will facilitate the addition of a new name when there is no room for the letters to share with the current puzzle. You may need to alter your puzzle to accommodate the new name.
Lets examine the puzzle here:

The family wants to add "STANLEY" to the puzzle and the easiest way is to add it off the "S" but there is no room for it to go vertically. So let's remove and relocate "JULIE" to accommodate this as seen here:

It is not always simple or obvious to add names to a puzzle. Sometimes you need to rearrange more dramatically, and sometimes you may need to add additional words to help connect the names. See the next section "Help! I cannot get a name into my puzzle!"
Additionally, you may want to review the section "Tile colors don't match" so you are prepared for possible color matching issues.
Once in a while tiles may arrive slightly warped. This is happens most often in larger tiles (6" and larger) but is still rare. It occurs because of moisture in the air during shipping. You can sometimes fix this by spraying the back of the tile with water and the flattening under weight for a time. We will also replace the warped tiles if necessary.
Occasionally, we get a customer that has a set of names that simply will not connect in a puzzle. Consider the following names:
JULIE
GEORGE
MIKE
PAT
When you try to create a puzzle using our generator, the result generally will look like this:

As you see, the name PAT is by itself because no other name has a P, A or T in it so there is no way to connect it. This can occur also if there is simply no room for the name. We recommend you add additional names (pets, kids, etc...) to fill out the puzzle and provide additional connection points, or perhaps add a fun word or two to accomplish the same thing:

In this puzzle, the word "FAMILY" was added to get "PAT" connected. Other possible words are:
HAPPY
BLESSED
HOME
CHERRISH
etc...
etc...
We have been doing this a long while. Feel free to contact us for help.
From time to time when customers request additional tiles to add to an existing puzzle, we have a hard time matching the color of the puzzle. This is due to a number of factors:
- The puzzle has faded or changed color over time
- The wood we get now is somehow different or of different density than what the puzzle was originally made from. This can cause the stain the penetrate differently and shade differently.
- The stain is no longer available
- The stain is somehow different (chemically) than what it was when the puzzle was originally made
There may be other reasons as well.
We may request that you provide us with a tile from the original set to try to match.
We strive to match the original design, color and style of the original puzzle but sometimes it just cannot be matched and a new tile set may need to be ordered. We will discount the order of a replacement set when this occurs.
As described under "Tile colors don't match" there are many reason why the colors of the tiles could be different as depicted. The most common is that the wood density has change and does not accept the stain the same as it did when we took the sample photo. We will make ever effort to match the color for you including replacing tiles if the color is off significantly.
